Raliza Velichkova

I train Latin dancers from their first step to the competition floor.

International coach and WDC adjudicator. I teach Latin and Standard Ballroom dance in Singapore to adults, children, and schools, whether you want to dance for the joy of it or compete in pro-am with your coach beside you.

DanceSport in plain words

You don't need to know any of this to take a first class. It just helps to know the map.

  • DanceSport

    Ballroom dancing as a sport

Couples train a set of dances and perform them for judges, at every level from first-time newcomer to world championship. Many people learn the same dances purely as a hobby.

  • Latin Ballroom

    Also "Latin American" or "Latin"

Five rhythmic, expressive dances: cha-cha-cha, samba, rumba, paso doble, and jive.

  • Standard Ballroom

    Also "Standard" or "Ballroom"

Five elegant dances in a closed hold that travel around the floor: waltz, tango, Viennese waltz, slow foxtrot, and quickstep.

  • Pro-am

    Professional + amateur

An amateur student competes with a professional partner, usually their coach. Only the student is judged. It's the simplest way for an adult to start competing.

The names vary by association: the World Dance Council says Ballroom and Latin American, the World DanceSport Federation says Standard and Latin. Same ten dances, and I teach all ten.

Competition transforms people.

Dance competition builds confidence, discipline, and presence, not just dance skills. I've watched it happen to more than fifty couples I've coached.

Champions and beginners belong in the same room. I'm Raliza. Utalente is my Latin dance brand in Singapore, and I teach every programme myself.

Meet Raliza

Expert-level coaching with a human, personal approach.

Most dance options in Singapore sit at one of two extremes: casual social classes, or elite academies that feel out of reach. Utalente is the space in between: the technical depth of a competition coach and adjudicator, in lessons I teach myself and shape around you.

  • World-class credentials. I've adjudicated at international championships. I know what judges look for.
  • The competition transforms you. Success is measured in how students grow, not just what they learn.
  • A pathway for everyone. A structured route from first hobby class to competition, open to every student at any age.
  • A community, not just a class. Shared ambition, shared preparation, and shared celebration.

In their words

If you're looking for the most patient, dedicated, and passionate Latin dance teacher, that's got to be Rali! Aside from teaching adults, she's also very experienced with teaching children and teenagers.

Rali is an exceptional choreographer who organised and performed a captivating Great Gatsby-themed show for the ceremony of my installation as the president of the Rotary Club of Singapore. I highly recommend working with her.
